Abby Tracy in Africa

Featured Story

Abby Tracy is a 23-year-old college graduate who listened to the call of God upon her life.  As a 19 year old, she interned in Uganda and Rwanda through the Go-Ed Program with Food for the Hungry.  Through that experience God grabbed her heart and turned her head towards the plight of the street children in Kampala, Uganda.  She determined to do what she could for them.  The initial result of that activated resolve was to sell necklaces (made from paper beads) in the United States in order to advocate and fund the US and Ugandan church partnerships strategically designed to build homes and create healing communities for these children. Today, there are two homes in Kampala, providing for the holistic needs of 30 children who have never known safety or love. The proceeds of these necklaces provide for the complete care of these children; education, food, clothing, shelter, counseling, medicine and spiritual direction, so that these children can become the future leaders and healers of Uganda that God intended them to be. When you purchase a $20.00 necklace you have provided a coat, shoes, bed, nutritional meal and hope for one of these children.

In Abby's first year of advocating for these forgotten boys she was able to raise $80,000.00 and build their first home. Today, in addition to the two homes that are being sustained by these strategic US/African church partnerships, there is a drop-in center that offers education, counseling, meals, spiritual direction, and a place to sleep safely at night for over 80 children.

This sustainable model moves forward by the commitment of each of us to do our little bit - to do something that only we can do. God has called us to be the community that works as a community taking responsibility for the needs of the 120 million children around the world. It starts with one step. Then another. And another. Please contact us if you would like to sell jewelry, intern, donate time, money, or your expertise. The needs of these children ARE our responsibility. They are our children. They need us.
